The Blackberry Torch 2 should ease the worry that BB hardware is falling below the curve. Everything is still whispers and rumors, but the Torch 2 is expected to leap into the modern era with a 1.2GHz processor, hopefully letting it keep up with (or perhaps outpace) the rest of this years Smartphones. There has also been mention of an integrated NFC chip, suggesting that RIM may be outfitting all of its upcoming models with this technology of the future.
