When word finally came down that the PlayStation Phone was to be the
Xperia Play, a PS certified device, all the anticipation quickly turned to disappointment. The Xperia Play’s hardware is a bit mediocre, built almost entirely on last year’s tech, but word has it that the Play is shaping up to be quite the capable gaming device. Its slide-out controls, complete with shoulder bumpers, make it well suited for gaming; it also brings a full-featured PlayStation store with several titles.
