Nintendo Rolls Out Free 3D Video Service For 3DS

Nintendo says its all about the games, but the feature list on the 3DS has our raising our eyebrow suspiciously at the claim. The portable game player shipped with some features of dubious gaming value, like an SD card slot, a microphone port and a built-in (if kinda crappy) 3D camera. A firmware update added Netflix just a little while ago, and late last night, Nintendo pushed out a new service dedicated to offering owners a free source of 3D video content.
The app's creatively called Nintendo Video, and you can pick up it up for free in the 3DS eShop. Only four videos are available at launch: a introductory video, a short film called "Sunday Jog," a humor clip from CollegeHumor called "Dinosaur Office," and a 3D "Captain America" trailer. Future titles will automatically download to the app, and Nintendo's press release says the music group OK Go will premiere an exclusive 3D music video on the service on July 27.
How often will new content be available? Shaking our magic 8-ball gave us "Reply Hazy, Try Again," so we tossed it to the side and checked out IGN instead. IGN doesn't sound too sure, either; they say to expect updates at "unpredictable times."
