Acer only provided us a general description of the hardware and features in and around the TravelMate 8481, which at its foundation includes a second generation Intel Core processor armed with Intel HD Graphics 3000. Discrete graphics featuring Nvidia's Optimus technology will also be available.
Other bullet points include up to a 320GB hard drive or 64GB mSATA SSD, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, GbE LAN, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, USB 3.0, up to 9 hours of battery life, and Acer's DustDefender technology that works via a smart reversing mechanism in the cooling fan to push the dust out.
No word on when the 8481 will land stateside or for how much.
